  • Maximum Age: No upper age limit

 

CTET 2025 Eligibility Criteria

For Paper I (Primary Level – Classes I to V):

  • Candidate must have passed Senior Secondary (12th) or its equivalent with at least 50 percent marks and must have passed or be appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
  • Alternatively, the candidate can have passed Senior Secondary with 45 percent marks and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education as per NCTE norms.
  • Another option is passing Senior Secondary with at least 50 percent marks and a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • Candidates with 50 percent in Senior Secondary and a two-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) are also eligible.

For Paper II (Upper Primary Level – Classes VI to VIII):

  • The candidate must have a graduation degree and passed or be appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  • Alternatively, graduation with at least 50 percent marks and passing or appearing in a one-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) is acceptable.
  • Candidates with graduation and 45 percent marks along with one-year B.Ed as per NCTE regulations are eligible.
  • Senior Secondary with 50 percent marks and a four-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) also qualifies.
  • Senior Secondary with 50 percent marks and a four-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed is also acceptable.
  • Graduation with 50 percent marks and a one-year B.Ed in Special Education is valid.

Age Limit

The minimum age required is 18 years. There is no upper age limit for appearing in the CTET exam.

Nationality

The candidate must be an Indian citizen.

Number of Attempts

There is no restriction on the number of attempts. Candidates can appear for CTET as many times as they want.

 

CTET 2025 Exam Overview

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is a national-level exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to determine the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in central government schools (like KVS, NVS, etc.). The exam is held in two papers:

  • Paper I: For candidates aiming to teach classes I to V (Primary Stage).
  • Paper II: For candidates aiming to teach classes VI to VIII (Upper Primary Stage).

Candidates can appear for either Paper I, Paper II, or both, depending on their qualifications and the type of teaching job they seek.

Exam Pattern:

  1. Paper I (Primary Stage)
    • Subjects: Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics, Environmental Studies.
    • Number of Questions: 150
    • Duration: 2.5 hours
    • Marking Scheme: 1 mark for each correct answer (no negative marking).
  2. Paper II (Upper Primary Stage)
    • Subjects: Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics or Science (for Mathematics/Science teachers) or Social Studies (for Social Studies teachers).
    • Number of Questions: 150
    • Duration: 2.5 hours

Required Documents

·  Scanned Photograph:

  • The photograph should be recent (preferably taken within the last 6 months).
  • The size should be between 10 KB and 200 KB.
  • The image should be in JPEG or JPG format.

·  Scanned Signature:

  • The signature should be done on a white paper with a black ink pen.
  • The size should be between 10 KB and 200 KB.
  • The signature image should be in JPEG or JPG format.

·  Identity Proof:

  • A government-issued photo identity card such as Aadhar card, Voter ID, Passport, Driving License, etc.

·  Class 10th/12th Marksheet:

  • For verifying age and educational qualifications.
  • A scanned copy of your mark sheet in PDF format may be required for reference.

·  Category Certificate (if applicable):

  • If you belong to SC/ST/OBC/PH categories, you will need to upload a valid category certificate.
  • The certificate should be issued by a competent authority and in the prescribed format.

·  D.El.Ed or B.Ed Certificate (if applicable):

  • A scanned copy of your D.El.Ed, B.Ed, or other relevant educational qualification certificate may be needed, depending on the eligibility.

·  PwD Certificate (if applicable):

  • If you are a Person with Disabilities (PwD), you will need to upload a PwD certificate issued by a competent medical authority.
