UTET consists of Paper I for candidates who wish to teach Classes I to V (Primary Level) and Paper II for candidates who wish to teach Classes VI to VIII (Upper Primary Level). Candidates who qualify the examination receive a UTET Eligibility Certificate, which is one of the essential qualifications for applying to teaching vacancies in the state.

UTET Paper I

Classes I to V (Primary Level)

12th (Senior Secondary) with at least 50% marks and 2-Year D.El.Ed./BTC (passed or appearing), OR 12th with 50% marks and 4-Year B.El.Ed. (passed or appearing).

UTET Paper II

Classes VI to VIII (Upper Primary Level)

Graduation (Bachelor's Degree) and B.Ed./D.El.Ed. or other recognized teacher education qualification as per NCTE norms.

Candidates who separately meet the eligibility conditions of Paper I and Paper II can apply for both papers.

 

Uttarakhand Teacher Eligibility Test (UTET) 2026: Mode Of selection

  Appear in UTET Examination

  • Candidates must appear for UTET Paper-I, UTET Paper-II, or both papers as per their eligibility.

  Written Exam

  • Selection is based on a written objective-type (MCQ) examination.

  Qualify the Exam

  • Candidates must obtain the prescribed minimum qualifying marks:
    • General Category: 60%
    • OBC / PwD / Ex-Servicemen / Freedom Fighter Dependents: 50%
    • SC / ST: 40%

  UTET Certificate

  • Qualified candidates are awarded a UTET Eligibility Certificate.

  • After qualifying UTET, candidates can apply for teacher vacancies in Uttarakhand schools.

  Final Recruitment

  • Passing UTET does not guarantee a job.
